FAQs

What is your method of farming?

We are a pasture based farm that follows the practices of regenerative farming and sustainable agricultural. A big part of this involves migrating our herds. The herds freely graze rotationally, meaning they are moved to lush new pastures on a regular schedule to allow the previously grazed fields to rest and regrow. This is how migratory herds exist in the wild. Through these practices we strive to heal and nourish human health and our land.

What Breed of Cattle do you have?

All of our beef is black Angus.

What Breed of Sheep do you have?

Our sheep are a dorper Katahdin cross.

Is the beef and Lamb grass fed?

All of our animals are grass fed. What does this mean? This means that our animals are on pasture their entire lives. The majority of lamb and beef that you find elsewhere is raised and finished on grain because it’s fast and cheap. However, cattle and sheep are ruminants and are designed to eat and thrive on grass. Animals that are grass fed contain a higher amount of beneficial omega-3 fatty acids, have a more favorable fatty acid profile, are lower in saturated fat compared to grain-fed beef and lamb, and are associated with improved animal welfare due to a more natural grazing lifestyle.

Are all animals born and raised on the farm?

Our sheep are born and raised here at herd heritage. Our cattle are born at a neighboring farm who shares our strict practices and care for their animals. Once they are old enough to move over to our farm, they spend the rest of their time here on our pastures.

Do you process your meat yourself?

No- we have selected 2 local USDA approved processors to partner with, where the beef and lamb are both processed and packaged.

Can I order a whole or 1/2 animal?

Yes, you can still pre order by hang weight. Navigate through our store and select the pre order hang weight option. You will be asked to put a deposit down at the time of order and the remainder will be due at pick up. If you do a whole or half animal, you are able to do custom butchering to meet the needs of you and your family. This is also a great way to stock up your freezer at a lower price point than buying by the cut.

Do you ship?

Right now we are working on local pick up and delivery only, however, this is in the works and something we would like to offer in the future. We do offer delivery to all of Northeast Ohio and would be happy to deliver your order if you fall within this proximity.

How do I order?

Our online store will have all of our inventory listed. Place your order online and once we receive your order, we will notify you that your order is ready for either pickup or delivery.
